Why do women mutilate themselves with breast implants?

I was talking to this girl recently who has breast implants and she said she no longer has any real feeling in her nipples and they can't get erect anymore. It got me thinking why so many women do this to their bodies. I think it is becoming more and more popular, and I have met girls as young as 15 and 16 who think they need bigger breasts. Who is at fault here? Men? Women? Advertisers? I have a hard time believing it is just men because there are tons of guys out there like myself who love smaller/natural breasts.

Well in nature big boobs equals fertility in our species. So it is a morphed version of that attraction. Honestly I know most guys don't like implants. I think girls see women and how their breasts are in the movies, advertisements, Play Boy etc and somehow feel inadequate or have had nothing to compare their own breasts to and now feel they are not normal or somehow their breasts are unattractive. These media examples basically say "Men are attracted to BIG BOOBS, no matter how fake and hard they are. You need big boobs for attention, otherwise no man will want you." A bit extreme yes, but the truth. I would also make a guess that it roots in their self esteem, trying to improve something physical to cover up something emotionally wrong. It's almost like being a natural,strong, normal woman is a bad things these days. If you have cellulite you are unattractive. If you have a little fat on your bones, you are ugly and overweight. My husband loves my breasts the way they are, I'm happy I found someone who loves my body the way it is. Some guys are just that shallow I guess.
Reply:I agree with both answers above. First, the women do not operate upon themselves. Secondly, if our society had not evolved to place women with substantially ample breasts on a pedestal, women would not pursue implants. Moreover, if the products were not available no one would have them.





In the wild, the more colorful, the faster, the stronger, the one with a larger crest, the one with the biggest rack of horns, the better hunter gets to breed. Our mating and partnering rituals are a lot more convoluted, but we're still animals.
Reply:That's been going on for years. Most 13/14 year olds who have no breasts want implants.





I don't know who is at fault, but men would be pretty high on the list.


Also, clothes are made for boobs. Clothes don't fit properly if you don't have a bust to fill the shirts out.





It doesn't really matter. Stay out of it, and why be dramatic and use the word mutilate?





If men's private parts were sticking straight out from their clothes all the time, i'm pretty sure they/you would be concerned and consider getting it englarged. Even if it was normal size.
Reply:some people are really insecure about the way they look, so they do all this stuff to themselves.


in some cases they still think there boobs aren't big enough so they have more and more implants and at the end of the day they look like they've got two balloons underneath there shirt.


i just wish people would be happy with what they've got because everyones pretty in there own way, they dont need to change that, but i think they look at other people and think omg i wanna be like her, because i do that ALOT... but shake what ya mother gave ya :)
